Measurement interpretation process

UCEM describes what an economic measurement means, which source supports that description and where interpretation remains unresolved. Existing standards provide reusable foundations.

1. Source acquisition

Official statistics come directly from authoritative statistical publishers. Research findings come from the inspected article, paper or report. Retain its edition, original expression, source location and acquisition limits. Source authority does not establish that every interpretation is correct.

2. Representation and standards

SDMX supplies statistical structures and metadata. Other standards describe research variables, provenance, units and business facts. A local profile must state how source fields map to those structures. The worked SDMX packages retain curated context.

3. Meaning and source documentation requirements

A GDP level needs its price basis, period and annual-rate expression. A research coefficient needs its outcome, comparison, construction and uncertainty. UCEM's bounded clauses require material distinctions and unresolved fields to remain inspectable. Publisher classifications and definitions remain referenced inputs.

4. Assessment of the requested interpretation

Finding a relevant record is separate from establishing that a proposed answer follows from it. An application must identify the sources and the particular check it applies. Missing sources can leave an answer partial or unresolved; it must not silently become zero, a match or permission to calculate.

5. Communication of findings

Equivalent human and agent requests should receive the same substantive sources and limits. Source facts, application checks and generated text remain distinguishable. The website provides curated records, deterministic retrieval and configurable publication-draft extraction. Generated drafts require assessment under the applicable profile before they can support an economic interpretation.
